You can Activate Screen Pinning Option in MIUI 9/10 by following below steps: (Screenshots and more on source: http://en.miui.com/thread-6183116-1-1.html )1. Install App named "Settings Database Editor" App by 4A from PlayStore.2. Open App and go to "System Table"3. Press "Add new setting" and type: lock_to_app_enabled and click save4. Now you will be asked to Input Value so here type "1" (to turn ON) or "0" (to turn OFF)Now you can Pin Apps from recent apps screen. To Unpin an app press Power + Home button.NOTE: Please don't use screen pinning in 'full screen gesture' mode as it'll not work as intended and can cause problems.
